In a nutshell, my site name describes me. I find myself often times in humbled adoration of the awesome wonder around me; the words pulled from the first line of the old hymn (one of my favorites), “How Great Thou Art”. Since I can remember I have been that sentimental kid, a big softie, or whatever line you would use to describe one who gets goose bumps and a lump in their throat every time they hear the National Anthem. Whether it’s the Anthem, a touching story, or thoughts of the great men and women in our families and all they gave, there, you would likely find me fighting back a tear. I don’t know why really. Maybe because from the time I was young I wanted to lose myself in things bigger than I, just get drawn in and appreciate it thoroughly, love it, and live it. Christmas, family, God’s green earth, sports (especially baseball), wild animals, acts of kindness, generosity, these are all things I have buried myself in. Many times I missed things that would have been obvious to others because I was locked in on something I wanted to hold on to. Those things I hold so dear do touch me to the core and my feelings are genuine and reactions are real even if not immediate. As the site name suggests, I truly am 1 in awesome wonder.
