Good Bye Inchworm

I wasn’t ready for what I watched today, I had heard but not known. Found, not a mile from the trail as the crow might have flown.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I thought of those left behind. Oddly, a sense of peace rolled in as the lost they did find.

My heart raced at the thought of loss, the final hours endured. Closure comes in an emotional mix, as remains are secured.

In the end, a life outdoors, expired, it ran its full term. And the world got its chance to say goodbye to trails’ Inchworm.
